Q1. What is meant by a "Barro-style model"?

Reply: I am not aware that I have used that term or that it appears in our syllabus. Nevertheless, let us see what it may mean.

First, the term "Barro-style something" may refer to at least two different things, none of which is part of our syllabus.

Growth analysts speak of "Barro-style growth regressions" in the sense of the empirical approach described in LN 6.4. That section is not in syllabus.

When the term "Barro-style model" is used in a growth context, people think of a model type introduced by Robert Barro in 1990. This type of model is a fully-endogenous growth model with a public sector that delivers productivity enhancing public services with a "large" effect. The effect is "large" enough so as to make a ”reduced-form AK model”, as defined in LN 11, fit the economy.
