Notes, codes and exercises

Notes

Henrik Jensen (2014): Optimal Interest-Rate Setting in a Dynamic IS/AS Model

Expository notes for March 16 slides: "Technical notes to Walsh (2010), Chapter 6"

Expository notes for April 3 slides: "Technical notes to Walsh (2010), Chapter 11"

Codes

Use of codes requires installation of MatLab software, which is available on campus. A free alternative to MatLab is Octave, but I have not tried the codes on that platform. Moreover, most codes require installation of Dynare, which is a free sofware package. An quick introduction to the use of Dynare for simulation of stochastic macroeconomic models (DSGE models) can be found on the Dynare site.

Exercises

The exam set from June 15, 2006. QUESTION 2 done March 30.
Suggested solutions (including a few additional details) on this QUESTION 2.

Exercise for Thursday, April 27.
Note this requires use of the book, so it is a more difficult one compared to what you will encounter at the exam.
Extensive note that contains the solution to the exercise and lots of more stuff (even figures):
        * Henrik Jensen (2012): Monetary Policy Effectiveness in a Dynamic AS/AD Model with Sticky Wages

Exercise for Thursday May 11.
Suggested solutions.

Old exam sets

Go here (opens new window) for the collection of previous exam sets and suggested solutions (the course was called "Monetary Economics: Macro Aspects" prior to 2016). Note that Walsh's book from 2010 and onwards is a newer version, and that the course have changed over time - so the sets get less and less representative going back in time.
