Workshop on Informational Herding Behavior

Workshop arranged by the Dynamic Economic Theory network, based at the Department of Economics at the University of Copenhagen. The workshop took place at the Pharmakon Conference Center near Copenhagen, on September 16 to 18, 2005.

Over the past 15 years there has been a rapidly growing interest in herding behavior modeled as an outcome of rational learning from others. This workshop provides a venue for the exchange of ideas among researchers in this field.

Some areas of the field covered in this workshop:

• Variations on the basic theoretical models: exogenous/endogenous timing, free/costly signals, full/limited history observation, payoff function variations, etc.
• Herd control: Manipulations of the herd by a social planner or other interested parties
• Bounded rationality and herding
• Herding in the lab: Experimental results
• Applications: Consumers, investors, experts, forecasters, financial markets, etc.
