Dear participants in the student seminar:
"Speculative Bubbles and Business Cycle Fluctuations".
As announced earlier, the next meeting is Tuesday 6th of February, 12.15-14, in
Det Nye Seminarværelse, 3rd floor, to the left (same place as last meeting).
I remind (some of) you to inform me by email not later than Thursday 1st February what topic you have chosen.
An important book (with selected articles) which I have probably not mentioned before is:
Richard H. Thaler, Advances
in Behavioral Finance, vol. 2, Princeton Univ. Press, Princeton 2005. (Vol. 1
from the beginning of the 1990s is also of interest).
Earlier I have announced that at the end of this month you will receive a text, written by me, about speculative bubbles under rational expectations. I apologize for not being able to send the text until Monday 5th February in the morning. This text will be the basis for my talk (the theoretical part) at the meeting 6th February, 12.15-14.
The agenda at the meeting is:
1. I will present the list of the topics you have chosen (with the associated
names).
2. You will then choose on what topic you want to be an opponent.
3. We fix the plan for the dates and time of the seminar meetings (see
below). Please, bring your calendar and the course schedule for Spring 2007.
4. I will give an overview of the theory of speculative bubbles on the basis of the paper I talked about above.
As to the meeting plan for the semester, the idea is that you use February and March to
write (and in this process you may consult me). All papers should be
handed in late March (exact information about this later). Then in April
and May we have two meetings each week, where you successively present
your work according to the plan and we discuss in the group what you
have presented and the wider perspectives related to your topic.
Remember that you should be present at all meetings. If you for some reason are unable to participate in a meeting, I should be informed in advance (the sooner the better). A
good reason should be given. The maximum number of cancellations allowed is two.
That´s the rules.
Looking forward to see you again,
best regards,
Christian
